Not a fan of pink. What color is it now?
I prefer darker colors for Novas.
Mine is black but if you like red , I would go with a dark red, Whine, or Burgandy. Black Rose is nice. That color was available on Corvettes. It was a very dark purple that looked black when the sun wasn't too strong and in the direct sun , the purple comes out.
This is just my opinion . It is your car so do what you want .
If you like it when it is done, then that is all that matters and don't worry what other people think.

How about two tone black over the rasberry. those colors together won't stand out "Girls car".

    My nova

I'd say a black cherry color. Or the black rose. But novas look good in light colors too. a 2door looks good in almost any color, but 4 doors are a bit harder (i'm battling with a color choice myself)

Have you thought of a light metallic blue? There was an 69 SS here in my town that was light blue..it looked great.

Is it 3spd auto or 3spd manual?

    I had a 72 nova 250i6, 3spd manual on the tree

now i got a 70 230i6 (blew it, got a sbc in it) and a 2spd powerglide, had a TH350, but it blew after only a week of driving on it. So the 2spd is back in..and runs good. slow, but good.

Both of mine have been green, one was medium, the 70 is dark.

I'd say, go to a GOOD shop, or a House of Kolor store and look throught some samples, and choose from there or make your own color with 2 different colors. I can post a picture of a hotwheels i have, it's light blue, had white stripes and a white side stripe, the stinger hood, it's a good color scheme.

    70 Nova - 305, 2spd PWRGLD, 4door, 97k miles
    68 Dart coupe - 318, TF727, Yellow, 121K, Factory AC and P/S.
......95 neon..i don't claim it as my own. What's wrong with it? It's a neon. Hell, they hate themselves!

Well my 74 Nova is a very nice shade of primer black. I don't plan on painting it until I'm finished doing everything else to it.

Sense your Dad paints cars have him paint it a different color every month til you find one you like. ;-)
I would rather push a chevy then drive a ford

lofl, OBmisfit. I like the primer black too. In the newest car craft mag (a 68-72 white nova/black stripes doing a wheelie off the line) there is a 66' rustang on page 19. It's flat black primer. It looks sharp. He's got shiny chrome rims (tubbed of course) and the chrome bumpers/light bezels have been re done in chrome.
    He said
"I had visions of gleaming pain, flawless chrome, and body panels that lined up perfectly. All future plans. Then a friend told me to just get it running, and now i think primer is finer.

Novagurl, I think he's right, have your dad primer it, pick a color, or just for now get the body work FLAWLESS and then primer it in pink or something lol. I'd say black or a dark gray, but that's me. If mine wasn't gonna be a sleeper it would get the 4" cowl induction fiberglass hood (with hood pins and my sunpro tach mounted under the cowl scoop) and it'd be DARK metallic gray with black yenko stripes or SS stripes. But it'll be a sleeper. I took out a DOHC 00' 5spd integra yesterday. heh it was fun, he had YELLOW headlights, so ugly. on a green car lofl. I'll get the story posted on my car domain site sooon.

No pink.....might be ok for a cople of months but it would get old real quick! I would do a dark purple or something if you are stuck on girl colors.....black looks nice but is hard to keep clean! If I had one it would be silver w/slightly darker silver stripes...JMO

    good luck

novagurl, Did you pick a color yet?

If you did , I hope you went with a dark color. My wife chose Black for our Nova , I put the 4" L88 hood on it and it gets a positive reaction every time I take it out. As mentioned before, if teh prep is great then everything else will fall into place . The Black Primer with a coat of clear was a good choice also .

Why don't you do like I did, find a similar car photo or take a photo of your's and use a photo shop program to change the color untill you get one that's close. I use microsoft picture it, however you can buy paint software for a single vehicle for about $50.00 from http://www.hokdigitalpaintbooth.com/site/ I did this one for you with my picture it, it's a 70 nova.
