    40 ford coupe

Have a 40 ford coupe I just purchased and am "going through it." What type of device is required to hold the spare tire in the trunk area? I think it is kind of a latch system, but the car has no such piece at this time. Car has a 383 stroker and is in fair shape- will be better when I am through with her. Thank you for any help re: spare tire holder. rjf

Here's a pic of where it mounts to a stud on the bracing.

It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.

thanks, uncle bob for info on the spare tire mount system. I suppose I can drill through the brace and stick a stud and bolt to hold the tire? I thought there was a hold down type of latch at one time, but have not seen any original 40 trunks lately- Thanks again Rick
