    What Have I Gotten Into??

Hey folks , Just want to say Hi! As a new member to this forum, I was wondering if anyone out there has any recommendations for a nice safe, and fairly inexpensive donor frame that can be used on a 1940 ford sedan?

The stock frame works great, lots of suspension kits available for them, too. If you don't have the stock frame, measure the wheelbase and see what is close to the same. Ford Crown Vic's have a very nice frame, might want to look at one of them.

Dave- I am going to be running a chevy 350 w/ either a turbo 350 or a 700r4. I am hoping to either try to use the frame that is under the car, or possibly an s-10. (The frame that is under the car had a 350/350 w/ supposed nova front and rear clips. However the the quality of the job is quite substandard, scary really, plus the front has drum brakes. I was hoping that I could find a frame that would work without all the hassle and expense.) Not to mention that this is my first attempt at building a car, and I don't have a clue! Thanks for any help,or ideas!!

Do yourself a favor and look into a bare 40 ford frame from one of the aftermarket manufacturers. The quality is great and you won't be dissapionted. You could also check ebay for one. I believe 35 to 40 are the same, coupe or sedan.

Yup, they cost more, but it would be a really first rate frame. Might want to check out Chassis Engineering, the one in Iowa that does Hot Rod stuff, not the one in Florida that does drag race parts.

if your building on a budget the s10 frame works with little modification. they have od gears and are narrow. the kick up in the rear is a little forward compared to the stock frame. worth looking at. i am currently building a 46 sedan on an s10 but i am shorting the body 7 in to fit the shorter s10. the longer frame can be shortened. i hope to fire on it next week and will have pics of the build on my web page. let me know if i can help.
