    hey another new guy here

    well hey evry one

My name is Ivan im from houston texas. Im 16, I bought my first project car about year ago wich was a 92 mr2, when i got it it was falling apart now all it needes is a paintjob. Now i want to get into something more serious like my own hotrod, yes i know im 16 but why not start early. To tell you the truth i dont know much about hotrods but i do know just about all there is to my mr2. So i hope you guys will be able to help me build my first hotrod. Well here is my first question, where could i find a frame for my hotrod or what would be a good donor car to start with.

thank you guys hope you all could help me out!!!
yes its not a hotrod but it gets me around, soon enough i will have one though.

    Welcome Ivan.

Before you go tryin' to buy a frame, how about telling us what kind of hot rod you're attracted to. There's a wide world of choices out there, and answers can be all over the place without a starting point.

    And here is after.
Fortunately i hung with a group that was like this one, only a LOT closer!
Basically, lots of body work and paint, repaled interior and engine.

I seemed to do more when i was young and carfree (no repsonsibilities).

No i worry about money spent, then i had NONE, so i couldn't worry about what things cost!

That's better. Here's a link to a thread we had running a short while ago with lots of info that will get you started thinking, and maybe even planning. The tbuckets.com and speedwaymotors.com are the two most like what you've shown in the pic you posted.

    Welcome...

Welcome to the group... T-bucket is a good choice for a first hot rod... You can build on a budget if needs be, they are fairly straight forward with not too many complicated components... There is some good "how to" articles in mags and on the net for these and I have even seen a couple build on TV programs shown on Speedvision...

We will be happy to help with any advice we can, just remember to have fun and learn all you can while you are building it...

Welcome to the club. A "T" is an excellent first project. Might want to consider somebody else's started project. Lots of T's get started but never finished, could find one at a bargain basement price. Worth a try, anyway

for what i got for $700 now is the damn 68 LTD so i am pretty much new here too, my first project was a 91 civic,(that was when i got into the sport compact crappy cars) but it's gone now since i bought the LTD, figured that if i was going for power, i should buy a car with a big block v-8. gotta love that power even if it's only making 200 horsies right now until i can fix her up. it's going to be sweet soon.

Hey guys, my name is Yuri and I'll be the guy helping Ivan build the rod... a team-work style project. I wanted to take the opportunity to ask just how much horsepower is too much for such a light rod as a t-bucket? We were thinking about getting a turn-key chevy small block with 300 hp . Please helps us out as much as possible . We're really stoaked on this first hot rod project and we really want to eat up some of the local ricers with this thing...
I want something good to die for... to make it beautiful to live
