    Dreaming up a car...

Names' Nick, and I found the forum while searching with Google.

I'm real close to completeing another goal of mine (My Private Pilot's License), and then I hope to pour my time and money into a rod.

I joined a hotrod club (Carb's Hot Rod Club of Athol, MA) 6yrs ago when I was 17, and have been squirrling away all sorts of sketches and drivetrain ideas for when the time came to build my own. Up until now I've just been reading manuals/books and practicing on my daily beaters. Some of the other guys have built some beautiful hotrods and muscle cars, one had an all-metal '32 coupe with a blown flathead before he passed away recently.

So here are some of the things I like...

    1. Homebuilt Chevy Big Blocks with a reasonably smooth idle and big/flat torque curve. I'm looking at a new 502 block to start out with.
    2. A great stand-alone EFI system for future upgrades (maybe a positive displacement blower down the road). I also like the smooth running FI yields.
    3. Stick-Shift. Maybe the Tremec TKO-600?
    3. Monster brakes and an IFS to stay out of the bushes n' creeks.
    4. Either a 12 bolt or D60 with a D-Locker Diff.
    5. Comfortable seats.

Hell, throw that in a frame with some wheels, fuel system, a driveshaft, and a steering wheel and I'd be happy!

I really have no set plans on what to build frame/body-wise. I sold my convertible last year and miss that alot, so I was thinking a '32 Roadster, but those chopped/channeled '34 coupes look absolutely killer too. I was also thinking of making my own custom glass body (maybe a C/C smoothed out 30's era pickup?).

Anyhoo, I plan to read through the forums here and post some questions of my own as they come along.

    Thanks Guys!
    - Nick

Welcome to CHR, Nick. The best cars come from lots of planning and lots of looking!!! Lots of good pics of project cars as well as done cars in the CHR gallery, might want to do some browsing there, too.
