Plano Piloto
Oh boy!
Have you lived in Brasilia? Yes, I am a Plano Piloto cruiser but a very careful one. Lots of eletronic speed traps and very expensive fines.
I remember when I arrived in Brasilia (1999) there wasnīt many speed traps. I didnīt know the city very well and I was supposed to follow my friend Eugenio driving my Chevelle. Eugenio started to drive his 72 Charger Superbee 383 like a madman. Since I had a car up to his Mopar I had to follow him close enough in order to not get lost in a strange city. What a thrill...

Never been accept in the T.V. and movies! Big car culture so I picked up a few tidbits of info hear and there on the web, checkin it out. The pictures of Brazilia I have seen are absolutely beautiful. I imagine there is more opportunity to go fast outside the city?Justin RFFR

Hi Justin,
Sorry about taking so long to return you. Well, at first I didnīt like the idea of living in Brasilia but now I love the city. Itīs a real nice city to live, mainly compared to Rio, that is crowded and dangerous.
The roads outside of the city are easier to go fast but they have speed traps too. I consider the speed traps an annoyance, but they save a lot of lives. Brasilia with its broad a long straightways was an invitation to speed. The car crashes here were things out of nightmares. Collisions at 110 mph are not pretty to watch... Now the number of deaths is much smaller than before, when there wasnīt speed traps.

Didn't like the idea? Why did ya move there, was it a woman? Yah, I can imagine 110mph head-ons aint too perty. Thats to bad things had to be taken to such drastic steps to stop people from killin themselves and others. Are there any local strips or race tracks that give poeple a good outlet?Justin RFFR

LOL! No, it wasnīt a woman. It was because my job gave me two options: go to Brasilia or be fired. I thought that Brasilia was a better option. I had an idea of Brasilia as a boring and not very interesting city. BTW this city has a nice amount of foxy ladies...
Here we have the Nelson Piquet race track in the North Wing. If you like road racing you have it, and if your cup of tea is drag racing you have it too.

American iron in Brasilia
Hi Larry,
Sorry for the delay in answering you.
Here in Brasilia we have a car club and a variety of American cars. I can remember right now of a number of 65-69 Mustangs, few 67-69 Camaros, some 39-41 Chevys coupe, a 59 Ford retractable hardtop, a 55 T-Bird, a 59 T-Bird, a 66 Olds Cutlass coupe, a 72 Charger Super Bee and my stuff: a 67 Chevelle SS 396 and a 57 Bel Air coupe. There are some street rods like a 29 Ford phaeton made into a T-bucket, a 51 Chevy with 350 samll block, a 51 Dodge with a 318 small block Dart engine, a fair amount of Brazilian Dodge Darts, etc. Ah, my friend Alexandre has a Brazilian Dodge Dart 4-door with a 383 engine. Check it out:

Luiz,
Great to see rodding is doing good in your part of the world too. Sounds like a neat club you have also. Do you guys have your own website for your club? If not, you can start one here on Club HotRod.
Nice looking Dodge Dart Alexandre has.

Brasilia car club
Hi Larry,
Yes, the Brasilia car club has a site. You can see here some cars to sell. Among them some Brazilian cars as the Aero Willys, Dodge Charger (a Dart with long C posts) and a Maverick GT.
