just want to say hi
Hellow fellow rodders.Found this site a while back but never had time to spend on it My mistake.Aways loved hot rods but never got around to building one Another mistake.Anyway now that i'm 54 and a grandfather i seem to have a little more time so i'm doing up a 39 Fordor. Like coupes better but where do grandkids fit in them ?I set the 39 on a S10 frame and have most of the big work done and am getting ready to disassemble and start painting everything and reassemble. If anybody has any questions on that frame conversion glad to help because it does have some drawbacks

Welcome to the forum and also to rodding.
How did that S10 swap work out? Sometimes the wheelbase is slightly off in the ones I've seen, unless you lengthen it to match the stock wheelbase. Is that what you had to do?
Post some pictures, we love to see them during the builds.

Don The S 10 i used was a long box so i had to shorten it which is pretty simple because there is a factory seam by the trans crossmember so you just grind out the factory weld ,shorten frame to right length, square it and reweld. This swap is best if your frame is weak and the floor is in poor condition because you have to raise the rear floor pan and trunk floor due to the sweep of the S10 frame so if your frame and floor are solid it would be easier to just use the front clip and join the two frames around the firewall. The S10 is a little narrower than the camaro and nova so they fit a little better for width in the 30's cars. This is only my own opinion though and i'm far from a expert Murray

Murray: Sounds like you have figured out how to properly install a S10 frame, unlike some of the other attempts we have all seen. I can see the logic in doing it, modern suspension and steering, ability to swap a sbc in easily, etc. Send some pix to help some others who may be thinking about this swap.
Just for giggles, Bob Parmenter posted these pix a while back, and I saved them. Hope he doesn't mind my posting them. They really demonstrate how this swap can go bad real fast.

saying hi
Don Thanks for the pics.Things can get away from a guy sometimes as we all know. Two super cars sure hope they turned them around. They say measure twice cut once but with a car measure 10 times tack weld measure 10 more then weld.As for the pictures i,m not as handy with a computer as i am with a welder so i'll get one of my daughters to do some up for me soon I won't reccomend this swap yet for a 37 to39 Ford because i'm having a few problems getting my front fenders to clear the steering box but as soon as i work that out i'll pass it on.

Welcome to CHR Mur39. Can't wait to see some pics of your project. Just make the pics around 800x600 and try to keep the total size under 100,000 bytes in the messages. We still have people on slow dial-up connections.

Sorry 'bout that Mur. tell your daughter to make the pics around this size Hight: 800 and the width: 600 pixels if you are putting them in a message keep the total file size 100,000 bytes or smaller. She'll probably know what this means.
Thanks,
