Hello fellow rodders...I stumbled on your site while looking for "ratrod" pics on the google. Decided to lurk for a day or two before posting. Ya'll seem to be a pretty friendly and knowledgable group. Im in the process of accumulating parts to build a 27 T coupe. (first rod Ive built in about 15 years). I guess you could call this a "Rat rod" since I dont plan on ever painting it or doing a complete upholstery. I know there is a lot of emotion in using the RR term but to me its just a name. As long as the vehicle is safe and well built, I dont care what its called. So far Ive got a rough coupe body with doors and decklid. Just got a killer deal on a 383 chevy stroker and trans. It came with a set of T bucket style headers and a narrowed (40") olds rear. Picking up a square tube frame w/8"Z and suicide front pearch and complete front suspension this week. I'll post some pics by the end of the week. Looking forward to some friendly banter and comradery! Any of Ya'll in Tennessee?

Welcome. You have hit the recipe for building a car no one on here has a complaint about..........build it safe and strong. Sounds like you've got the makings of a nice rod, no matter what you chose to call it.

Post the pix as you go, we'd love to see them.

Welcome to CHR, T. Seeing as how it's your car and you are doing the build, guess you can call it what you want. Doubt you will get any critcism from anyone here for building a T with safe and strong construction as a goal. Looking forward to seeing the pics....

Welcome aboard T42...I know you will enjoy being a member! There is quite a bit of experience and knowledge floating around this site. The 3 who replied before me are some of the best damn rodders on the site. Always willing to help.

Thanks for the warm welcome...I will be getting my frame this week and will attempt to mockup my ride and take some pics. Right now it's just a bunch o' rusty, greasy parts scattered thru-out my work shop! Its gonna be the usual chopped, channeled T-bucket style rod. Instead of using a fiberglass 23 roadster, Im using a steel 27 T coupe. I was very heavy into building street rods back in the 70's and 80's but got out of it when I discovered boats. (Im from the Ft Lauderdale, Fl area). But now Im high and dry in Tn and I have to admit, the socalled "ratrod" craze really perked my interest! My only beef is that some of these rodz are being built in rual areas where there is no inspections and some should not be on the roads...While mine will have a ratty look to it (mostly due to my lack of body working skills ) The chassis and driveline will be very new and safe (oh yeah, did I mention VERY fast too?). Anyway.....looking forward to being a contributing member of this forum! Daniel.

Daniel = Welcome to the site. Build what makes you happy, but build safe. Ratrod discussions can bring out some real nastiness on some sites, but I have seen that here. I don't have one, but I respect those that do, if that is what they want. Hope you enjoy yourself here, and don't forget to speak up.
