Hi I am a new member and most impressed with the info available thru the contributors. This is the real truths. I am interested in doing a willys coupe and would appreciate any feedback on active power who uses a s-10 undercarriage and a company called ac and collectables who have a willys also.The stories of poor fiberglass are too scary

Kenny Davis a member here on CHR with the sign on name of Kennyd deals with willys bodies a lot. he probably knows somthing about them. I'v heard of Active power and my dad was considered using 1 of there kits. Kennyd told me that they are poor quality and wouldn't have a good resale. if you want to put a Willys on an S10 frame, you do not need an active power body to do so, any aftermarket '41 willys body will fit on the S10 chassie, Active power is the only 1 that advertises it. Why an S-10 chassis??? If you are going to invest money in a quality fiberglass body why waste it on a truck frame??? It will still just ride and handle like a truck.... JMO. and I'm sure I'm in the minority on this subject but it would seem to me that a quality ride is going to have to start with a quality chassis....

Yeah, I've never quite understood this S10 chassis craze either.

Let me rephrase my question. Can anyone suggest a good supplier for a willys body. I am new at this game and would appreciate any ones help.

Imo,The s-10 get boiled down to just the frame rails ,whether most want to believe it or not,when they start using that frame.I have a buddy that is using one on his 49 ford a s-15 extended cab frame.It looked like a nice complete rollin frame when he started,then you have to cut it down to fit the wheel base,then the leafs come outa the back and triangulated 3 link gets installed,there goes the rear suspention 9 inch ford rear ,there goes the rear endNew rims and tires ,there goes more!!! Then up front,the coils are the wrong tention,need air bags,there goes more parts In the end 2 frame rails and a pair of a arms ,steering box and associated steering linkage.IMO not much left there and lots of work. The main attraction of the s-10 frame is that a non running ,ruff looking body s-10 is usually next to nothing or free.Like most things lots of time to invest ,but little money...=s
