Neglected to Post
I guess I overlooked posting here. I have been watching the scene from the fringes since my first issue of Hot Rod in '61. Ran a '60 chevy 2dr ht for several years, several engines, several trannys and several rear ends learning how to twist wrenches. Did a few years in the USN working aircraft radials during our viet nam time, and finally went back to school for a ME degree. Now I'm a gray hair, and visited Pete & Jakes a few weeks back still trying to resist the urge to build my first ground up street rod. I love roadsters, but with the mid-west weather I also need to be able to close up, too. Torn between a 32 roadster/cabriolet and the 34 chopped coupe. First things first, the barn floor is getting concrete this week which will get me out of the gravel Shortly it will be decision time.....

Welcome to the forum. You might as well give up trying to resist the urge, you are bitten and there is no cure for it. Besides, why should we be the only ones with depleted bank accounts and bandages on every finger??

Rspears, welcome to CHR!! I'm trying to ignore Don's comment about people here being "old as dirt". Build what ever you like. Not sure what living in the Midwest has to do with a roadster though. You don't need no stinkin' roof. I currently live in the cold and snowy (not yet thank God) north and my car has no heater. Sure it gets cold in January, but hey, hotrodding is suppose to be about marginal comforts. So build the roadster, get some long johns and a good rain slicker and head out on the highway.Bob

This is from the guy that has a sedan and is waiting for me to post that I am freezing my backside off next year
Actually I am considering building a highboy roadster after I retire. Only difference between your desire and mine, is I plan on doing it after relocation to FLORIDA!!!!! You might want to consider doing the same. If you really like the Midwest, you could always be a snowbird. Florida could always use one more snowbird. Ain't that right Don???Bob
