Another Newby
Well I am not very puter litterate so will just rattle some. Our project is a 1934 ford pickup with suicide doors that I have owned about 40 years and as my son grew older and my grandson got involved we decided it was time to drag the thing out of the woods and do something with it. It has been a trying experience as we can't find many patrs for the slant door thing don't guess Henry made many of these but we do get to spend a lot of time together.
Have learned a lot about making things as we have Metal brakes and a beader and and a roller so its been fun should get it done in a couple years

Hi BJ34 welcome to CHR. I hope you can post some pictures of your truck. I've never seen a 34 pickup that had suicide doors. I thought sedan delivery trucks were the only ones with suicide doors. Was your pickup originally a sedan delivery that was cut down? There are lots of places making parts to restore or hot rod a 34 Ford.
There's lots of knowledgeable people on here that can help you find the right parts and give advice on every aspect of rod building." Im gone'

Welcome aboard bj.
I'm with Al on the door thing.? Your comment about "slant door" would rule out an original Ford truck as their doors were rectangular. The only trucks of the mid '30s I'm familiar with that had a slant front, and were suicide, were the Mopars.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Well this thing was titled 34 when i had the title along while ago. It looks like a 34 tudor that i have seen and it has not been cut down so dont know a whole lot about it. Seems as though in late 34 just before the 35s they made like 650 of these things.
Thanks for the replys. Dont know about postin pictures was just proud to get on the net. Still lost in the 60s chuckle

Just to clarify, it's not the vintage that's at issue, primarily because Ford never made a production truck with suicide doors. The cloth insert muddies the waters some more. Makes it sound even more like a conversion. The '33-5 Dodge panel trucks had an insert, but I don't recall the pickups having that.
Here's what the '34 Ford is supposed to look like. Very upright and square cornered doors, solid top.Last edited by Bob Parmenter; 12-29-2003 at 09:20 AM.

Everybody loves a mystery! It'd be fun to figure out what you really have. It would really be great if you could find someone to help you with the photo thing.
Here's what a '34 Dodge looks like. The front of the door is slanted, similar to windshield angle, hinged at the rear. Notice the detail on the cowl.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

The plot thickens
Welcome BJ,
Just to throw a cat among the pidgeons, over here in Australia, we had Ford 'Coupe Utes' which had suicide doors, and it started in '34. They were a response to a farmers wife requesting a vehicle which they could drive to church on Sunday, and Pigs to market on Monday,
