Was luking and now registered
I have a 1991 Ranger that originally had a 4.0L in it that seized up. Got the truck for nothing, and did a 4.0 to 2.9L swap using a Bronco II as a doner for the wiring harness and the ECU. The motor came from another vehicle that liked to die, so I left the ECU from that out and just used the one from the Bronco II.
Now I'm getting rough idle and it does not want to drive smooth, so if it is going to be something major, it is time for another vehicle, pull the 2.9 out and visit the 302 swap thread that I bookmarked some time back.
I am currently in IA, heading back to AZ, so will not be far from Desert Valley Auto, just a full days trip to make it worthwhile.
Heading out to be a truck driver, so I will be in and out, with subscriptions to threads so I do not forget what I posted on lol.

I had a bad experience getting parts from Desert valley Autoparts. course it was cylinder heads. 1 was cracked and they switched out to another head that ended up, I found a crack, then they claimed not to have another. ended up paying $80 to ship the $160 part back to them for a refund that they slacked on. I ended up going to a local U pull it and pulling a good 1 for $35 ( was for a 200 I6 Ford so, a little hard to find )...
rough idle, after warming up or all the time?
if it's just after warming up, change the temp sensor. theres a little more troubleshooting if it does it all the timeYou don't know what you've got til it's gone

That's a bummer with your experience especially with having to use the shipping method instead of the go there and inspect it method.
Rough all the time, at idle, going down the road it feels like it is pulling back a little bit when going at speeds around 50. At first I thought it was the road as the suspension is stiff and we feel everything. It just did it out of the blue. One tank of gas was burned quick, so thought maybe a bad batch of gas. Switched gas stations and it seemed to get better, then it happened again but it is constant now. At idle it will idle about 750 rpm when it is acting up. On the occasion it is not acting up, it idles right about 900 rpm. The fuel rails are definitely getting pressure, however I have noticed a little bit of fuel around the fuel line return module that connects to the rails, like a bad o ring that needs replaced (it's green on this one). There is an exhaust leak just before the muffler, so thinking maybe part of it may be due to insufficient back pressure.
I'll be examining the exhaust more tonight to see if I can smell anything that would be tell tale. It is white but it has also been cold around here so it could just be condensation even after the truck is warm and the weather is between 30-40 F (I do not like the cold )
