newbie from Mesa
Hey my name is Ben. I live in mesa AZ. I've always been into cars. I just purchased a 1940 pontiac 2 door sedan(as the pic shows anything but stock). Its got a 350 with a mild cam i was told, turbo 350 trans, front disc brakes. The work done wasn't the best but I look forward to tearing it apart and putting it together the way i want. Though i am a novice at best when it comes to everything associated with the job, maybe with some advice from people how have been there ill get the job done. thanks in advance.car.jpg

Man, that thing looks GREAT!! Welcome to the forum. Love these big old sedans, make terrific road cars. Does your Indian light up?
You did exactly what we tell lots of people to do, buy someone elses unwanted car and make it your own and improve it. Keep us posted on what all you are doing and if we can help, just yell.

Welcome froma fellow Arizonan...albeit from the west side of Phoenix.
Great looking car. If it runs and drives I am jealous. Our 37 Cadillac LaSalle is tantalizingly close to starting the engine. Right now it is a bare frame and the body is out back.

Ben, Welcome to CHR! Nice looking Poncho! Didn't use to see a lot of them around but they are getting more popular. A friend has a nice 39 sedan that he has recently finished. Nice cruiser. Hope you plan to drive the wheels off it.Bob
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail....but a true friend will be sitting next to you saying..."Damn....that was fun!

yeah I've been driving it every chance i get, as for the rebuild i plan on puling the body off cleaning up and welding all the bubble gum on the frame, chopping the top and getting more power to the road. as for the power issue my secondaries aren't opening on the rochester Q-jet my 350 i think it might be a vacuum routing issue anyone got any ideas

Rochester Q-Jet? mechanical operation. 9 times out of ten, gunk build up or warped base plate. Easily remedied. But you have to go look at it and see what the cause is by manually grasping the throttle control for the secondaries and find out if it's just build up or needs a little tweaking to loosen up the shaft to open them. What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?
