Reborn!
Hey guys, back again. After a few years of enjoying my AV8 it is time to hit the air chisel and oxy torch again. i have decided to chanel it 4 inches in the rear and 1 inch in the front. Does anyone have any good links for this. I have a basic idea if what I am doing but I am sure this wheel has allready been invented. Why the angle? Well i think it will even out the look abit and I am going to cut the 32 horns off the back and want to cover them up as well. With a 4 inch dropped front axle and a standard frame the back tends to be a bit up there as you all know.
let me know what you think anyway....I can take it.

Hmmmm, I thought I misread the numbers when I first read your post, the difference front to back seemed a little odd to me. I think this would give you a strange angle at the juncture of the firewall and frame. Couldn't say for sure till I see it done on the car, but in my mind's eye it just wouldn't look good. You would see a wedge shaped section of frame below the body too.
But I've been proven wrong before.

Thanks, My plan is to allow for up to 4 inches and lower the body until I get the desired result. may end up only being just enough to cover the frame horns. I know what you mean about covering those frame rails unevenly, but I think a 32 even has a bit of a rake over the rails. I also may end up dropping the front abit too. guess i will gut the floor and lower away!

Are you planning on redoing the whole car? From what I saw in your pictures, the body sits on top of the frame rails clear back beyond the door post,so to channel it you would have to redo the frame to pinch in the rails to allow the body to drop over them,or split and stretch the body out ? Why not Z the rails up 4 inches in the rear, and then only have to redo the floor in the rear. Just a thought, Hank

It may be a good idea to draw some pics to scale and see what it would look like . I think hank may have the right idea just my opion FrancisFrancis Blake Its not an opinion I am just right (I wish)

I went to your gallery and found this in progress shot, IMO all this car really needs is about 4 inches out of the top and bigger (taller) rear tires to fill up the wheel wells. I like it as it is, but if you are changing it, those would be my choices.

O.K The frame is already pinched at the front. I have now removed the floor from the inside (LOVE my SABRE SAW) and have trimmed the deuce rail horns off the back. Looks like dropping the fron about 1 inch and the back by 2 inches gives the best result overall. it keeps the bottom of the body relativley level but allows the swept up look of the chassis i am chasing. Previously it looked quite rectangular that slight raise at the back adds something to the look IMHO. The Fuel tank will now be in the cowl were its supposed to be. As well the frame horns are just covered at the back. i will try to get a photo once I have tacked the floor back in. Sounds like a lot of work but Geez its fun.
