Newb from Edmonton, Alberta
Hey party people, how's it going?
I'm Steve. I'm in Edmonton, AB, Canada. Probably my favorite car of all time would be a 32 Ford 5-window, but unfortunately right now it looks like the car will be 100 years old before I can afford to get close to one, so for now I've got an 83 Mustang GT in the garage.

Best 1/4 Mile: 14.884@94.07mph (altitude: 2200' - Castrol Raceway, Edmonton)... nothing crazy, but considering it's still the original engine and only put out 175 bhp when new.... hey...
Best 60-foot: 2.148
Now, it's sad to say, but even after 7 years of owning the car, I had an idea of what I wanted to do with it, but didn't have REAL DIRECTION for the project - I've been calling it "Project Fox Rod" for over a year now, and wanted to give it more of a hot rod style (for as much as you can "hot rod" a Fox Mustang) because I'm tired of seeing the usual 79-93 look on the roads and at shows....... that was until the June issue of Hot Rod Magazine came out and good old Steve Stanford's "Gasser" sketch nailed it down - sure his render was a blue hard-top notch and I've got a red/black T-topped hatch, but that's where the scanner and being a Photoshop junkie came in. I really respect Steve's sketches, so from one Steve to another, I hope I did his work proud:

Welcome aboard Steve. The Fox Mustangs are kind of like the '32 Fords were in their heyday.........inexpensive, plentiful, lots of potential, and can be made to run like stink with very little expenditure. What a successful car, same basic platform from '79-93........Ford nailed that one right.
Keep us posted on how your project is coming.

Haha. Thanks guys.
Vern Scholz doesn't ring a bell, but I may recognize the car if he hits up the street legal drags at Castrol Raceway.... what does he drive?
As for my car and the Fox Mustangs in general, the body style lasted from 79-93, but the Fox platform actually stayed generally the same from 1979-2004. That does say it was very successful, but in my mind that also held the Mustang brand back from some key improvements (ie: it should've been revamped with the changes in 1994 to include simple things like a coil-over suspension - hell, even my old 89 Cavalier had coil-overs), but then again it's also nice for us guys with the older Fox models because parts are easier to find and I'm able to use most stock braking, axle and suspension parts over that 25 year span... heck I can even swap the K-members if needed from anything up to a 2004, so having those options definitely has it's benefits.Steve

No street legal drags. All semi-hardcore stuff. Lives in Calgary....has been a hired driver for Alchy Funnycars and dragsters....and recently a Nostalgia '71 Mustang Funnycar....all campaigned in the Northwestern US and Canada.
He's currently involved in a nostalgia altered restoration.... and partners on a Fuel Altered.

Ah ok, that'd be why the name doesn't sound too familiar. I haven't been out to the bigger, more professional races for at least a couple of years now. I'm usually out of town when Rocky Mountain Nationals and Hot August Nights come to town in July and August (among other events). Hell, lately I've even had a hard time getting out to the street legals between working shift work and a little bit of crappy weather.Steve
