Tons of fun (the tale of a my trucks)
Once upon a time, I saw an old truck on an abandoned farm, and decided I needed it:
('37 Fargo)
A couple of years later, my aunt ran into the guy who grew up on the farm, and whose family still owned the land and all the vehicles thereon. He said "sure I'll sell it, but whoever buys it has to take these two as well, 'cause someone's been shooting all the windows out":
('47 Dodge)
('53 Fargo)
My aunt and uncle who have a farm nearby said I can store the trucks there until I'm ready to deal with them, so I thought, "why not, at worst I'll sell some parts from the other two and get rid of the rest for scrap"
When I got to the farm to talk to the guy some more, he told me some of the stories of these trucks, and mentioned that if I wanted, he would be happy to throw in this one as well:
('40 Fargo)
Since the price he asked for the three was what I was thinking of paying for the one that I wanted, I couldn't resist. So in the end, I got four for the price of three for the price of one.
I haven't figured out exactly what they're going to be when they grow up, but I'm currently thinking one low (the '37), one 4wd (the '47), and one tow truck (the '53). In theory, three of the trucks were running when they were parked, so I'm hoping to get one running flathead six out of the deal. I have to do a little more on my '67 dart before I start on these, but I've been browsing the forums for a few weeks, and thought I'd share.
If anyone's interested, He still has a few old cars to get rid of:
'50ish Kaiser Cardinal
'50ish Plymouth sedan
'39ish Chev sedan (I think)
'63 Chrysler New Yorker
There are some pictures here.

Good score, I have a friend here in Calgary that has been looking for a descent Fargo body for a long time. If you feel the need to sell one we might be up for a road trip.

AHHH a new Fleet owner Welcome.
I did a 52 F6 Ford several years ago that started out in the condition of the trucks you just bought...(BB Chevy with an Offenhauser Bellhousing adapter to the original non-synco 4 spped and 2 speed rear end).
It was really one of the funnest builds I have ever done. I had a ball with the truck, just couldn't justify keeping it.
Keep us posted on what's going on.I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

That is way too cool. When I was 16-17 we used to ride around and look for stuff like this. One day I spotted a 57 Chevy PU sitting way back across a field at the tree line and when we asked the guy if he'd sell it he said "Sure, $75.00 but you have to take all 5 of them. My heart went nuts. We got out there and there were 2 55's a 56 and 2 57's. We drove one of the 57's and the 56 home and over a couple months time got the other 3 back to the house. I drove the 57 for about 2 years and didn't have to do anything to it. My only regret is the I was a dumb kid and couldn't tell you to this day what ended up happening to all of them.Got Guts - Get Graphics

What a kewl find!!!! Doesn't matter if you have plans for them now, just put them away as future projects and dig them out and start building them when the urge strikes you!!!!! Been doing that for years!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Merry Christmas, what a score. Nice lookin bunch of trucks. Great that your Aunt and Uncle will store them too! I too really like that 37 and 40, as well as the Dodge. What a nice fleet!
Like the truck stories too! I think I'll post a new thread just for those!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

Thanks for all the encouraging responses!
Sean, I'll keep you in mind if I decide to get rid of any of them.
Mike P, that's a pretty cool old ford you had there! That's kinda what I was thinking for the '53.
Dream Ride - I haven't seen any deals quite that good yet, but I have regretted selling a few toys.
Dave S - I do hope to finish at least two of them, and I'm going to keep my ear to the ground in case I can find more like this.
65ny - thanks! I have more recent photos (these are from my first meeting with them two years ago), but I haven't uploaded them anywhere yet.
stovens - I was relieved when I found out that they would let me store them for a few years... otherwise I'd be selling all but the '37.
I decided to do a little virtual chop on the '37 today, here's how it turned out:

Thanks, youther! I don't normally have any good luck when it comes to cars either. Usually the bad luck comes from trying to pay someone else to work on my stuff, so this time I'm going to try to do as much as possible on my own. It's going to be a big learning curve and many mistakes will be made, but I have a spare truck or two to practice on

The most expensive things I have ever head, were free ( or very cheap )..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.
