Hiya NW Ohio
What a great site!
I've been lurking here off and on for a couple of years, decided to register this morning.
Some of my background. I have always loved Rods. When my son was younger we used to go to the local shows. Attend Detroits Autorama almost every year. I fell in love with a white '40 Chevy "gasser" that I would see up there every year. In 1998 I bought a '40 Chevy Master Deluxe BC from a guy in Montana. Solid car, all glass intact, gutted interior, covered in light surface rust but no holes. I put the car in the barn and began a slow process of saving money and buying parts for my project, which was to make a daily driver Rod out of it. I worked on a job with a guy who had a '59 Bel-air with a 283 in it from a '67 Impala. I kept bugging him to sell me the motor since the car was just sitting behind his shed. Instead he sold me the whole car for $400. I put it in my other out building. Christmas night 2005 my barn burned and took the '40 with it Luckily I still have the '59, sadly it is a four door. My plan is to make it my daily driver when the weather wont let me ride my bikes. I joined this site looking for advice as to the best way to up-grade the brakes, suspension etc. I think it will be an interesting journey.

Welcome to CHR Mike. Bummer on the barn fire!!! Lots of companies making disc brake conversions for most everything... Try a google search for "disc brake conversions" and you'll find a lot of options!!!!Last edited by Dave Severson; 05-31-2009 at 06:32 PM.

Welcome to Club Hot Rod – You might give these guys a shout. They carry a full and complete line of brake conversions kits as well as suspension components from stock to the extreme.

Thanks for the welcome!
Hell Teal your right up the road, nice '40.
Also thanks for the brake link Glenn. I have seen other companies that offer conversion kits but they all seem on the expensive side. I was hoping to find a donor car that I could get parts from, but I didn't know which ones were the best to use. I had an '88 S-10 that I was going to use the front suspension on the '40 but it was parked in the barn too.
Is there a good car/cars to look for to rob suspension and brakes for the '59?
Thanks again, MikeLast edited by cyclonemike; 06-01-2009 at 02:46 PM. Reason: miss spelling
