Greetings from the Netherlands !
Hi folks !
I am Martijn, 31 years young, and live in the Netherlands.
I'm a carpainter and in my spare time I restore classic cars.
My daily driver is a 1994 Silverado Suburban, with 22" chrome wheels.
Since a while I'm in love with your hotrods, streetrods, mopars and muscle cars. Over here it's almost impossible to own a nice classic usa car. They are very expensive here. So now I'm looking for one to import.
Guys, sorry for my bad english !
If you have any questions, just shoot..

Well, I like a lot of cars. I'm not looking for one brand or model, just looking what's in my budget.
It should be a daily driver with minor work. Prefer to new or rebuilt engine/trans. I like the anthiques from 1940-1960. But those are more showcars than daily drivers..
So I think it will be a '60 Nova, Chevelle, Camaro.. Dodge Dart, charger, challenger, Plymouth duster, barracuda.. Or a panelvan from the fifties.
Or.. or.. I don't know, just what I can find with lots of hp and within budget

Offcourse I checked the for sale ads. First thing I did
Haven't look at all of them yet. I like the first car I saw for sale here. The red thunderbird. But allready saw some more cars wich I like, but most of the sellers don't reply when I sent a message for info and pics.
Probably because they don't want to sell their car to Europe. From all messages sent sofar, I only got one reply. He asked me for my email te sent pics, but never got them..
I love the 32 blown roadster, but such cars are just for show over here. For a daily driver it should have a roof and sidewindows. We have more rain then sunshine. Also it should have fenders, elsewise you're not allowed to cruise the streets. Besides it's not in my budget.. But damn what a great car !
My max. budget is $10000. So if one of you wants to sell his car let me know !

There are millions of kids in American public school's that can only aspire to your English,...
We get english at school, so I can make myself clear but sometimes I just can't say what I wanna say because I don't know the exact words. Or I can say the word but can't spell it. And especialy technical english..
So in that case I try to tell the same but in other words. Most of the time you will understand what I'm saying, but I guess it has a lot of spelling faults.
I guess I just have to spent a lot of time at clubhotrod.. read a lot, post a lot and my english will soon be better

you are planning on coming to the USA purchase in person ?
wow. Maybe restrict your search to eastern USA big city you can arrive at by airport
or close by to cut down on your travel and shipping costs.
maybe look around from there for ideas, then come in person to check out and arrange for shipping. Beware of scams via internet. Reputable dealers you could trust from far away will be a little more expensive but save you travel costs.

No I won't come to purchase the car. I contacted a transport company over here in Rotterdam harbor, and if I find a car I like, he can sent one of his usa agents to check / pay / ship the car.
But thanks for the info !

That's a frightening idea!!
If you can afford it time and money, I really have to suggest that you make a trip to the US to do your car search. There are a lot of disreputable people selling the type of car you posted above. A transport company agent would have to be a special kind of car nut not to be cheated. What you could do is when most of Europe goes on holiday in July/August, make a trip here to one of the NSRA or Goodguys big car shows. KLM/Northwest fly into Detroit and Minneapolis daily from Schipol. While it's a fairly long trip anywhere in the US from there, it might end up being the best and in the end, the cheapest way.
As far as your English, it's fine and we'll help you with the technical stuff. What I've learned from business associates and my travel in the Netherlands is that almost all there speak Dutch and English as well as a "foreign" languageDave W
