Hello I'm another newbie & have just signed on here & we here at my shop of kevinskustoms are looking for a ton of information, but let mr tell you a littlr bit about myself if I don't fall asleep on the keyboard it's 230 am & I'm up in the great white north toronto canada. I would like to correspond with people aboot old hemis old car songs hot old hot rod movies automotive art, old car & hot rod type magazines, My own car that I've just aquired is a 49 merc, I plan to put in a caddy 501 with a 400 or a tremic couplrd to a 75 caddy limited slip as for the front end maybe a nova, I want the ride of a limo for she will be a long distance cruiser, the interior is to be custom & the paint scheme for the body is or will be gee has this been done yet, I want to do it in gloss black with the exact scallops & the trunk decal as the original amt model kit had. heck I wanna include the bullet shaprd speakers in the back window which later issues did not have, Other cars we are working on at kevinskustoms@gmail .com are a 52 austin sports conv, a 58 lloyd delivery a 82 rampage two of those, we are also looking for the chassis specs on the merc a shop manual ? Some day I'll do a list of some of the cars I've had I've been into cars since my dad's old 52 dodge limo & my 31 chev pickup made out of a four door ooops falling asleep at the keybord talk to you all later

Welcome to the site, although I`m also new here, after reading your post on your Merc, it reminded me of an article some 20 years back in street rodder mag, it was also on a `49 merc, they used a complete `67 pontiac lemans frame and lowered the merc body down over it, and bolt for bolt it lined up with the lemans frame mounts, the only mods they did was trim the front frame horns back about two inches...the wheel track was right on the money. just some info for those that are interested.
