The shop is finally done! At least as far as the county is concerned. The inspector just signed off on the final inspection.

Hopefully, this thread can return to being about building my hot rod.

Once you've got that final inspection box ticked the 'fun' things can now begin.
Like the hydraulic lift made from a single front-of-body truck ram to lift those engine blocks up to the mezzanine...

Holy %#@$&!!!!
Has really been almost a year since my last post? Man, it seems time just slips away so fast these days. Several things have happened since my last entry here.
1. I finally hung up the badge for good. I'm officially and completely retired.
2. I built an outdoor patio cover, which means we finally have some shade for those triple digit temperatures we get for weeks on end...
IMG_1020.jpg
3. and the Christmas Village for 2019 was built, and demolished. It was so big we had to use two rooms this year.
IMG_1330.jpegIMG_1331.jpeg
With all that out of the way, I was finally able to begin making repairs to the VR. I spent a day removing the bonnet, cutting out the damaged fiberglass...
IMG_1328.jpeg
and prepping the repair areas for mat and filler. I'll be making new forms to rebuild the under hood extensions to the sugar scoops.

Good to see you back at it Wes. I'm actually ordering parts for my truck for the first time in years. Other than starting and running it occasionally to keep the carb clean! I just bought front fender supports(only can find them used for now) off ebay, and then when they get t\here I'll be putting the front end back on which includes the innner fender panels, fenders(front), grill, lights and hood back on. Once all that is in place I can put the new(bought 7 years ago ) running boards on! Getting motivated to get my shelf and floor space back, which is filled with all this stuff right now! After that some re priming will be next then glass installled." "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

How true Dave... how true.
Let me know if you need another pair of hands, Steve. Mine are aren't as nimble as they used to be, but they can hold things in place while skilled work is being done. LOL.
I patched the fiberglass on the inside of the hood...

Then I recreated the scoop forms from a 5 gallon bucket and an old plastic planter that used to hold a redwood.
scoops.jpg
After glassing in the deeper scoops on the inside and filling the holes on the outside, I got down to sanding.

It's getting there!!Wes
