New Blood w/ Old Cars
Hello, JB here... Not new to the Rod scene, but new here.
I have been building custom choppers for around 10 years now and have been bored with them and I have always wanted something cool to do on 4 wheels again. I have owned a '51 Chevy truck and two Mustangs, '65 and a '67.
Picked up a cheap VW Bug, fixed her up, sold her off, made a few dollars. Also sold an old Sportster motor and that gave me enough $ to move up to some good 'ole American Iron. After searching around, a friend of my dads had a couple of 1946 Ford Coupes he was willing to sell. One look at them and I was hooked!
One has the original Flathead V8, the other has a modern block w/ trans. I will be picking them up this week. CAN NOT WAIT!
I plan on making three big piles:
1. Flathead w/ the chassis it sits in, best body from the two and best of everything from the two and misc.
2. Modern Ford V8 w/ modified chassis and next best of everything.
3. Ebay pile
And of course the ever popular #4 pile of "Salvage Yard Stuff"...
Then, Build #1 (name still in the works) will be started and a chopped, smoothed, bagged, flat black, little honey will be the goal. Very Budget Build if at all possible. The other modern V8 project may be parted out to help fund this one?
My Dream Build is a 30's model truck to chop and lower. So if anyone would be interested in the newer V8 project as a trade, I may be interested. I'll know more once I dig into them as to what direction I will be going.
Until then, anyone with any advice, I am all ears!
Later,
JB

Welcome JB
A few folks have 46 Fords on here as well as a few active builds going on.
Sounds like your off to a good start with parts car to boot. What v8 and tranny is in the modern one?" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

Thanks...
Not sure about the Drivetrain combo. It is still mounted on the front end it came with, again Modern. I'll know later this week once I am able to get everything in front of me. Everything is pretty much pcked tight and stored up, so it's a little difficult getting to everything. I'll let everyone know ASAP.
