    Just another desert Rat

Hello from the Sonoran Desert! Finished my 67 Chevy stepside over the winter and I've been scrounging around for a new project. This time something older, louder and a lot more obnoxious. I hate the term "RatRod." I want something that looks like a hotrod from the mid 50's so I've been on the lookout for a 34 or 35 Dodge Bros. pickup. There's just something about the front of that truck and I 've found several out here in the desert. The plan is to chop the top, drop the front and rear and stuff a 331 or maybe a 354 Hemi up front. There's just something about those motors....
Here's a couple of pics of my 67 and a candidate for the new project I found last weekend:

BW, you make it sound like the truck in the photo is representative of trucks you can find in the desert in Arizona. You're gonna have these guys trippin' all over themselves and gettin' rattlesnake-bit roaming around in the desert lookin' for nice examples like the pic.

I've got a 37 Dodge PU that's a back burner project ........I got it as far as initial mockup and the engine back out and rebuilt. I'm waiting for the new shop to get done before I get back on it .

Richard' s right though guys, all the good stuff is gone out here REALLLLY
I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

Hard to believe nobody has made off with those ginchy grille teeth yet. Reeto Neato and all that other stuff.

My neighbor has a '33 2-door sedan he rodded in the '70s, and has been driving it ever since. He redoes the car about every 10 years. ...and I'm currently painting a hot rod '38 panel delivery! We speak "Dodge" here in Tucson! :-)

I am surprised that grille hasn't been taken long ago too...Welcome to the bestest Forum on any computer near you, and Have you told yet, we love photos and we also forgive bad spelling and grammer. I do like both of your pickups and if that is an example of what is lying around out in the desert,I better jump onto a plane and get over asap.

I did Tech. I couldn't believe they were still there either.

Dave they need a bit of work on them but I'd be willing to let them go for Hmmmm, lets see,,,,,,, fairly cheap I stopped by Gene Winfield's shop in Mojave Ca. on my way back home last month, he said as far as what he seen out there these were in great shape but he was tapped out at the moment. He's got a pile of ol' Mercs in his shops in various stages of compleation plus a few misc neat ol' cars they are working on.
