    Hello from England!

Hello folks! I live just to the north of London, my current project is a 1973 Rover P6 with the Rover/Buick 3.5 litre aluminium V8. My plan is to convert it back to police spec (it an ex metropolitan police patrol car) but with some subtle engine mods. My dream is to one day get a 1968 Chevy impala and create a police car replica, but with a insane big block lurking under the bonnet haha!

Here are some pictures of the Rover.

    Welcome to CHR.
I've always admired the body lines of the P6.
Far 'prettier' than the earlier models.

Welcome to CHR Crash. The Rover looks like a neat project, what kind of power does the V-6 put out stock, and how big of an improvement you after? Curious too on how much the car might weigh....

As standard the V8 put out 165 bhp, it weighs 2804lb, but the bonnet and boot lid (plus the engine) are made out of aluminium, and i have fitted fibreglass wings so it has had a bit of a diet haha! The beauty of the P6 is that all the body panels, including the roof simply un-bolt. It has twin su carbs which I will probably replace with an edelbrock 390 cfm Four barrel. I am currently fitting a stainless steel exhaust and will look for a custom fabricator for some headers. I learned most of my mechanical skills from my late grandfather, who served in the REME (Royal Mechanical and Mechanical Engineers) attached to the 79th Armoured Division in Europe, in 44-45. ( He used to assemble, and repair Churchill Crocodile flamethrower Tanks).

I am also working on a number of my friends vehicles as well. These include a 1944 jeep, a 1944 Daimler Dingo scout car Daimler Dingo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. A 1944 Morris C8 GS truck, and a 1945 Humber heavy utility staff car. Oh, and I sometimes drive this as well....

    It's a 1943 Daimler Heavy.

As standard, the Rover/Buick V8 puts out about 165 bhp. It currently has twin su carbs, but these will probably be replaced with an edelbrock 390cfm four barrel. The exhaust has been changed for a stainless steel system, and I am currently looking for a custom fabricator for some headers. As for the weight, it weighs about 2800lb, but with the bonnet and boot lid being made of aluminium, plus the fibreglass wings that were fitted, (all the body panels including the roof simply un-bolt) along with the aluminium v8 out front, should make a bit of difference.

Sounds good Crash, I've got to admit I've never been around a Rover car! Not many of them must make it up here to farming country in the Dakota's!!!!!! Horsepower to weight should still be one of the biggest considerations in any build, sounds like you're applying the premise quite well! Enjoy the process and keep us updated on the progress!
