Change of pace
Hello everybody-
I figured I would make a little introduction. I've been feeling out of place with the previous forum I was a member with, it became too model specific for me. I came across this forum and it seems like a better place for my intrests. I'm currently in the military and stationed overseas, however I have a shop working on my car so it'll be driveable when I get orders back to the states. I'm not particularly biased towards any specific style or genre of hot rodding, however I do love trans-am style racers. I'm currently building a new age hot rod, however I have owned a 73' 454 Cheyenne and when I was younger my father and I built a 36' GMC ratrod. Here's a preview of my car for now
Thanks!Last edited by mrmustang; 03-02-2014 at 04:55 AM.

Welcome to CHR and thank you for your service! What you're doing day to day is appreciated. So a Gen III Camaro? What else can you tell us about it? Looks like an engine upgrade peeking over the front clip.....Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

Thanks guys-
Actually it's a 1st generation eagle talon I'm putting a ls376 and a hiedts pro-g rear end in. I had a custom chassis and roll cage made, also using a hiedts Mustang II front end. The 3rd gen Camaro wheels are just shop wheels to roll it around.

whats a eagle talon?????????
Actually with the addition of the Heidt's IRS rear and the M2 front, ability to fully and easily adjust shock settings and spring/corner weights----that will be a very light weight package with the all alum drive train that will probably put a lot of vets to shame thinking they are dealing with a ricer!!!!!!!!!!!are you going to put a single fart can on one side in the rear????????
Buttttttttttttt---------------since that was a Chrysler car, you shoulda done a HEMIIIIIIIIIIIILast edited by jerry clayton; 03-02-2014 at 10:35 AM.

I wanted to do a factory looking single muffler out the passenger side but I think it'll be too restrictive. The plan is to twin turbo it in a couple years, I want to get used to the way it drives and the power first. For those who aren't familiar with a eagle talon, it was a turbo awd 4 banger from the early 90s. It's basically the same exact car as a Mitsubishi eclipse, both of which were designed and manufactured here in normal, il. So it no import like most people think
I'm really hoping to do some damage to vettes and 911s on the track.

No, that would have been awesome it was AWS/AWD. I don't think I would have put a new chassis in it if they made those. The only 90s cars I know of with AWS were preludes and the famed skyline as well as some euro cars

Friend of mine still has his Eclipse AWD, what a blast to travel with on South Dakota winter roads!!! He's done some mods to the car, biggest improvements being in the suspension as well as some aftermarket goodies in the engine and electronics.
Curious what sort of number you're looking at for the car to come in at on weight and front to rear weight bias???Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

As for weight, I'd like to not tip more that 26-2700lbs with fuel and myself on the scales. I'll add weight ballasts to get it closer to 50/50 if I'm too far off, but I don't think I'll be too bad. The aluminum ls3 only weights a slightly more than the 4g63 motor that was in it. The biggest weight change is the transmission. But the block was positioned pretty far back and as low as I could get it. The last to cylinders are actually under the cowl of the car. With a big 26 gallon fuel cell I think it'll be pretty close to 50/50.
