New From Idaho
Hello All,
I am a new member from Idaho. I have a 38 Plymouth Coupe. I built the car in 2000 but I am in the middle of a complete re-do. I'm adding power steering, better cooling, new floors, firewall, suspension and a whole bunch of other stuff. Having a lot of fun but I have missed a whole season of car event fun.

Welcome to the family. You have had 15 years of fun in the car so I suppose missing one or two summers of events isn't the end of the world. Did I say what an awesome looking coupe you have so please, can you give us a breakdown on the mechanical side of things ? I did notice that somebody had pinched your wiper arms and blades which is a bugger. Did I say what a darn lovely colour your coupe is too ?
I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

He probably took the wipers off. As I recall, Idaho has months between rain.
I grew up in Idaho falls Idaho. Where abouts are you, rodder?.
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

Wow, thanks for the great comments about my car. I have had lots of fun with it and you are right, one year will be worth making it better!
The car has a ZZ4 motor with Edelbrock performer RPM intake and QuickFuel carb, March serpentine pulley setup, MSD Pro Billet HEI and MSD 6A, TH350 trans, 9" Ford rear with 3.25:1 gears.
Front end is Fatman Fabrications mustang II coil over setup with 3 piece sway bar (1.25" hollow bar with .095 wall), and t-bird power rack.
Rear suspension is Possies super slide springs with reversed eyes, 7/8" sway bar, Slide-a-link style traction bars of my design.
Yea, and I have to say, picking a color was one of the hardest things I had to do. I lucked out, I think the color is great on this car. Now if I can just figure out what to do on the inside!

Welcome, and looking forward to hearing more about the coupe, and maybe the Chevelle behind it, too! Boise is a great town. Visited there one time when I was considering a career change, when M&K was ramping up their design/build forces but luckily I stayed where I was because M&K closed down that group about two or three years later, and it got a little ugly.... Still remember flying in over high desert, and all of a sudden there's this oasis of green! And just a short jaunt up the mountain for winter skiing, and tennis in the afternoon down in the valley. Neat place, Boise!Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

Oh yea, the wipers, I leave them off because I don't like the way they look. I keep them in the trunk and if I get caught in a downpour I just throw them on.
I'm in Boise.

Yeah, I knew about the wipers not been needed much and how the car looks better without them hanging down across the screen. I think you people are darn fortunate, ( should say most of you ), live in areas where the rain fall is minimum. Now Roger Spears can tell you that us poor people living down here in New Zealand need wipers almost everyday of the week with the climate we enjoy on our narrow piece of land surrounded by sea.
I had hoped you were going to say the Plymouth had a 291 cu.in. Desoto Hemi with a 5 speed stick shift leading to a quick change but, no, the good reliable SBC and auto. Oh well, I do enjoy my little dreams...
I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

Neat car. The color choice is nice.
Many years ago, I built a car for a customer and he chose about that same color (maybe just a bit darker). When he showed me the paint chip before we sent it out for paint and body, frankly I wasn't real impressed. He really wasn't either, but had promised his wife she could pick the color for the car. We both had to admit when the car came out of the paint booth it looked great. It really a color that you need to actually see on a car to appreciate.
.I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

Hello from another new to Idaho hot rodder. Love the car. I too am in the process of a redo which has been stalled for about 2 or more years with the premove, move and post move chores . PM me if you would like to get together and compare notes.
Jack.
P.S. You are the first Idahoan I seen post on here besides myself.Last edited by Jack F; 11-09-2015 at 08:20 AM.
