Some mistakes are too much fun to be made only once.
I don't know everything about anything, and I don't know anything about lots of things.
'47 Ford sedan. 350 -- 350, Jaguar irs + ifs.
'49 Morris Minor. Datsun 1500cc, 5sp manual, Marina front axle, Nissan rear axle.
'51 Ford school bus. Chev 400 ci Vortec 5 sp manual + Gearvendors 2sp, 2000 Chev lwb dually chassis and axles.
'64 A.C. Cobra replica. Ford 429, C6 auto, Torana ifs, Jaguar irs.

Thanks guys, it's neat to be able to do stuff like that together as a family, there are still a half a dozen more or so that aren't done yet. I look forward to finishing mine and doing some photo shoots especially with the two 40 coupes.
Here's the shirts, flyers etc this year for the upcoming "Peach Days" car show in Brigham City.. The wagon won best of show a couple years back so it will be on display this year.

Had a decent turnout last weekend at peach days, a little under 1,000 vehicles showed up, there is usually more but first part of the day had rain so I think a lot opted not to do it. We had a couple of the family rods there.

Truck stuff has been going slow, been busy elsewhere, my brother stopped by Ogden Chrome and talked getting my bumpers and hood ornament re-chromed.. OH MY is it gonna be costly. Here is how the split bumpers attach to the fender.

I got a job offer on the air force base so I think I may be changing jobs by the end of the year, should still be able to move forward on the truck project.

Been busy with work and such lately, got a little more progress done.
Realigned the front bumper stuff and finished making sure it was where it will stay.

Maybe next weekend or so we will finish building the filler panels for the rear, paperboard templates are on it now, should be the last of the fabrication besides any interior stuff?

I love all the work you've been putting into this one, but... I don't wanna be "that guy" but!, I have to say I am not sold on the front bumper.. ( and not that it matters, it's just my opinion - we all have one right?) I just don't share "the vision" and wonder how it'll look when it's completed... to me right now it looks slight and disjointed, it doesn't seem to match the rest of the truck. Of course "we" only get to see one view, what is shown in the pics. But maybe once on the ground it'll change our view ( my opinion) ??? Like I said, you only need to please you! It's the golden rule, he who is spending the gold makes the rules! But I like to think you'd enjoy an opinion once in a while.. And good luck getting that job, hope you enjoy it.

Best I can do is maybe show some finished trucks with that "stylistic choice" I think the bumpers stock distract from the beauty of the front of the 40's, They look even better with no bumper, I am going with the lesser of the crowd with the split bumper look, more of an art deco piece than anything of function. I already have a lot of people that dislike things I have done but yeah, I like it and that is all that matters.

I don't dislike the look of the split bumpers at all, but as I think about what's being "protected" it seems to me that the grille is front & center, much more value than sheet metal. With that in mind I'd likely go no bumper at all, but that's just me.Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

I like it.
Although, having said that, I too would take Roger Spears' viewpoint: I too wouldn't like to take the risk of damage to the grille.

And it does.
12 months or so ago someone put their towbar through the grille of our Morris Minor.
I managed to repair it, but I wasn't terribly impressed.
And there was no piece of paper under my wiper with a name and address on it.johnboy

Ya'll are missing the point, its a statement piece, setting my truck apart from all the other 40 pickups out there, there is zero functionality to these bumpers, they are not going to save anything except maybe rocks chipping fender paint. The grille can be replaced, the fenders are not reproduced in anything other than fiberglass, running zero bumper looks great but there are already a lot of trucks doing that, just like I would never own a 32 Ford, there are now more of those on the road than Henry Ford built, why would I want what everyone else has? I also don't like roll pans on these trucks, they don't look right.

I don't mind the look, we'd all have five mile an hour government mandated bumpers if we're in it for the safety aspect.

That is actual fact! California verified the number with Ford, then researched their state... there are (or Were) more 32 Fords residing in Cali than Ford actually produced! That's what led them to guys like Boyd Coddington. etc. etc...
On the bumper deal. I wasn't viewing it as a safety deal.. just the view. And I still remain an all or nothing kind of guy. 8-)

It's all good either way, folks will like things we do or not, isn't any of a concern to me cause it's my build, there are no rules. Still gonna be a wicked truck I think, will be turning heads everywhere I go.
I'm one step closer to being employed by the U.S. Government, more waiting. Got some more life things going on so may be away from truck progress for a few weeks.
Keep an eye out on Hot Rod Magazine soon though, should be an article on the 57 Wagon coming up. Here is the backdrop for the photoshoot, they also got in the top 10 at the tri-5 Chevy western invasion at Famoso dragstrip.
