Hello, I'm new...
Hi guys, thought I'd share a little info about myself as it is suggested in the forum when you register, so here we go.....
My name is Nathan and I'm 24 years old. I have always liked hot rods, thanks to movies like American Graffiti, but until recently never thought seriously about building or buying one for myself due to my interests lying in other places. Lately though, I've become pretty interested in hot rods as a real possibility. In particular, I have seemed to pick out the '34 Ford three window coupe as my favorite. Fenderless and hoodless.
I guess the big draw for me is that hot rods are whatever you want them to be and the freedom to build it the way you want is very appealing. I like the light weight and high performance hot rods, still being comfortable enough to cruise in the summer with the AC on if you like. My dream hot rod would be the above mentioned '34 Ford with a supercharged and fuel injected 426 Hemi, coupled to a manual 6 speed Richmond transmission, and sporting a fully independant suspension. Now I don't know if that's possible even (the Hemi to a 6 speed part), but that's the real reason I came here to join. I wanted to learn and it's been my experience that forums are a great place for that.
I have to say I'm extremely impressed with what I've found so far on the web in other places. Been doing some digging and trying to get an idea of what it would cost to build a rolling chassis, ect. The independant suspension set-ups out there are very nice looking and cutting edge technology. Building a hot rod seems closely related to what I'm used to doing in 1/10 scale with one of my other hobbies, radio controlled (not the toys either) monster trucks and cars. The similarities are amazing, thugh I'm sure hot rods are not necessarliy a simple bolt together kit.
So there you go, a bit of info on me. I'm glad to see this site up and running again. For the last few days I couldn't access the forum for whatever reason. I'm looking forward to being a member, and please be gently with me should I ask some very silly questions. This stuff is still pretty new to me.-Nathan-

Welcome to CHR Shelby, hope you enjoy your stay and good luck on the project search. '34's are very nice coupes. Lots of reputable companies making quality components to put one together. I've always preferred asking dumb questions over making dumb mistakes......Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
