Old New Guy
Hi,
I'm new to Club Hot Rod but not new to the sport. I'm 51 years old. I bought my first set of Craftsman mechanic's tools and began my first restoration at 14 ( a '40 Desoto Coupe ). I still have most of the tools but, unfotunately no longer have the Coupe.
Over the years I've raced in SCCA and NHRA. I've build a 10 second drag car, numerous customs and hot rods with a little help from my friends.
Currently my wife and I are attending cruises and show & shines around southern Oregon and northern California in our '38 Plymouth. It's basically stock... just paint, chrome smoothies and lowered a bit, so far. This will be a long term cruiser project. I'll convert to 12v and add an Airtique A/C and Heat system, which I already have on hand, after the summer cruise season.
I hope to start a new street rod project this fall but I haven't found my new love yet. I think a true gearhead needs 1 to drive and 1 to work on at all times.
Happy Trails,
Cuff

Sorry Streets, I should have said AT LEAST one. Thanks for the greeting.
Cuff
Oh yeah, I went with the Fizbin Johnson Rods. Not the Royal Fizbins just the Flavin style Rods 'cause they were easier to install.

Boy do I feel stupid. I'm not familiar with the Fizbin, Royal Fizbin or the Flavin Johnson Rod. They wouldn't be British would they? Do they come with a dab a lube or are they Teflon Coated? You know they make some killer titanium ones now, Do you have a web site for the Fizbin, Royal Fizbin or the Flavin Johnson Rods? Maybe I could then do some research.

Guys, let me try to straighten this out the Royal Fisbin comes plated ( your choice of chrome or gold ) where the standard Fisbin is primed - ready for painting. Of course all the Flavin style come with the 30 degree arch that gives them the strength to hold up to high torque. They are American made and I believe you can find them at www.whatchatalkinbout.com. Hope this adds unnecessarily to the confusion. Thats what I'm here for and by the way I really do feel right at home.

I appreciate the clarification. To this point I have only had a handle on the rutin' tutin' knutin' Johnson rods. If you do a Johnson Rod search you will find that I am .......... well I'm a actually a shirt tail relation to the Johnson's. I've been told I have their nose. (not NOS).
Well ........ to make a long story short .................. I left out part of the story.
Thanks
Yours Truly

Thanks Dave and you're right about southern Oregon. It's a great place to cruise... nice folks, gorgeous back roads and three of four events ( cruises, rod runs, show & shines, etc. ) to choose from every weekend during the summer. We're 5 minutes from the white water of the Rogue River, an hour and a half from the Pacific Ocean and an hour from the snow year round.
Happy Trails,
Cuff
