Question new frame for old Stude ?

I have a '56 Studebaker C cab pickup that the previous owner had started to convert to a 350 engine... in doing this the front crossmember was torched out and the frame damaged. I also have a '76 dodge van... 360 engine, auto. trans, etc. (with a frame that is nearly mint) I would like some opinions on using the chassis from the van for the Stude. The wheelbase of the van is 109", the Stude is 112"... the width of the frame of the van is 44" out/out, the Stude is 33" out/out.
What do I need to look for, what problems could I face? This will be my first project and I would like to get it right the first time. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. THANKS!

I don't know about about your Dodge van but I have two Dodge shop vans and they are both unit body (non removable frame). Also the chassis components (rear end etc.) are too wide. Try an S-truck frame or a 73-87 Chevy truck frame.

look at some Jap trucks too, some use a torion bar front suspension (i know Izuzu does) & measure just about the same width as the 48-54 chevy frames.. it may be what ur looking for, you get an adjustable front suspension, disc brakes & most use a rearend that looks like a mini 9".....joe
