Hello everyone...
Just found this forum, and I will more than likely be here quite often...mostly lurking. My dad and I have been working on a 32 Ford 5 window for quite some time. My dad got it from his uncle, and drove it to high school; at which time it still had the original flathead and bench seating. The car will eventually be passed from me to my son when he is old enough to appreciate it. A ways to go though, as he is about to turn 5.
Anyway, a little about the car. Everything on the car except for the front fenders and running boards are steel. It has the original body and frame. The frame has been boxed. We just got the car back from the body shop a couple weeks ago. We still have to pick up the front fenders, hood, radiator shell, and grill, but it is done. I will be able to wax it in a few more weeks.
The engine is a 351 Windsor, totally rebuilt, and basically stock on the inside. The block has been painted to match the body, while the intake, valve covers, timing chain cover, water pump, and headers are jet-coated. Also jet coated is the rear backing plates and driveshaft.
After installing the steering column and distributor, I will be ready to start wiring it. The interior is next after that, but it is about 80% complete. I have everything for the car except the stereo, wheels, and interior, so it's in many ways just a matter of putting it together. I will then go through and polish up all the exposed aluminum and stainless (transmission, mufflers, brake lines, transmission lines, etc.) It has all somewhat oxidized and needs touched up.
Also, a few other things about the car is that the roof was left "un-chopped", canvas top filled in (a long time ago), rain gutters filled in and contoured, the firewall replaced and faired in around the outside edges. Front end is Mustang II. Steering column is out of a Ch, Che, Chevy...sorry, that's still hard to say Other than that, it is all Ford
I am also saving for our next project- a 1965 427 Cobra replica. By the time the 32 is completed, it should be about time to order it. This will keep me busy for now though.
Anyway, neat looking site! Now Im gonna go explore the site and try to learn something!
Thanks for looking...It's been a long process!

Great looking Deuce, good to see a Ford in a Ford. Of course that's from another Blue Oval guy. By the way, we're terribly outnumbered here, but then I have always preferred quality over quanity !!!! Welcome to CHRYesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Thanks for the comments! Again, it has took a long time to get this far. Still a little to go, but were in the homestretch.
As for the Ford thing, I have just grown up around them. It is ironic that you see many old Fords with Chevy power, but you never see a Camaro, Vette, TA, Nova, Chevelle, etc. with Ford power. I have owned two GM's...one blew up, the other wouldnt run long enough to blow up. My cars are well maintained, but I have never been afraid to run them.
To each their own, I guess. Although a major Ford nut, I still have appreciation for any of the big three (Ford, Dodge, Chevy). I will say that I have always liked the looks of 67-68 Camaros, but have never owned one.
Anyway, thanks again. I will keep you guys posted on our progress. Oh, and for the paint, I am not really sure yet exactly what it's called or the number. I do know that it is off of an early eighties Chevy color. I will soon find out though, as I have to touch up some chips on the frame rails.
My digital camera is a POS, so I apologize for the clarity, but heres one more...
Thanks,
Greg

A little update...The front fenders, running boards, hood, window frames, steering column, and the "cover" things that cover the ends of the rear spreader bar are now out of the paint shop and tucked safely away in the attic.
Recent tasks completed...
-Removed "shelf" from in front of back window to allow seats to be mounted about 7" further back (leg room)
-Installed new door glass tracks, felt and weatherstripping
-Had broken pass. side glass, and 1/4 windows cut
-Cleaned up metal floorboard to ready for black POR-15
-Installed brake pedal, but need to do more trimming in floor
-Mounted radiator, shell, and chrome hardware...still need 4 stainless bolts to secure the grill to the shell.
-Mounted guages in dashboard
-Currently planning the wiring. Located position for fuse panel and starter solenoid, and battery, but undecided on location of ignition module and coil. The other three sections of the wiring (dash, steering column, and rear) is pretty cut and dry, but the engine part of the harness is a different story. Thats alot of wires to try and conceal. And although impossible to totally hide them, I want the engine compartment to be as clutter-free as possible.
Wires will be left hanging out front for headlights and turn signals, then will basically be ready for the interior shop. Once done there, the front fenders, running boards, hood, etc. can be mounted. Until then, they would only get in the way.
So close, but yet so far away. It will still take some time. I am realizing some minor things that still need purchased (rear license plate light/bracket, ignition switch, coil, 12V acc. port, accelerator pedal, air cleaner, and radiator hoses).
Just thought i'd share
Oh, and Gherkin350- thanks for the compliment. It has took me since June of last year to get my garage how I want it, and it too is almost there. You can't see much from the pics really, but the only reason it is organized is the fact that the garage is off limits. I am the only one with a key. This is basically the only way to assure things will be where I last left them. It seems to be working.
Thanks,
Greg
