    Angry just got a 79 camaro... don't know how to start

     



    hi everyone well i am 21 yr old from nyc... went all the way
    down to jerset to pick up a 79 camaro z 28 t-top, 350, with some work done by the previous owner. the car is well rusted and some rots
    help me i am new to this car stuff though i have access to a shop cuz my friend owns a shop what and where should i star with.. gimme some tips plz all you car enthusiasts.... help the young soul i thank this site cuz there aren't too many ppl who know about muscle cars around here... the car runs...

    the first thing you should do is check the T tops seals and the door seals, to enshure it won't be leaky then, do the bodywork and repaint b4 it gets worse.

    thanks t- top is ok but the door hangs so i guess ill need to replaces the door hinges. should i worry wbout the rust underneath and the rusty frames. since i have never looked at a project car i don't know whether they are bad and need new frames... etc and was the cars that you guys done started with a rusty rotten underneath and you undercoated it or what ever to it lemme know please... thank you so much for the help...

    Well, you got a camaro, underneath of it, there is a front subframe, a middle unibody section and a rear subframe ( if I'm not mistaken ), get an icepick and jam it into unibody crossmembers and the parts of the front and rear subframe, if it goes through, it needs work, if not, if it has rust, grind or sand it down then undercoat otherwise, just undercoat. Unibodys arn't that hard to fix, if you can weld, you can cut out old and weld in new, I'm not shure on the subframe part though.
