    question about ''new'' 57 chevy fenders

     



    just wondering if anyone here has any experience with new reprduction fenders for the 1957 chevy pickup , there is a place in orange ca , that i beleive makes and sells them, ive got a 57 that is in excelent shape needing minor body work ,but was concidering just replacing all 4 fenders to bypass the bodyshop , but,i don't want to end up with cheap crap that doesnt line up.
    let me know please, i need to make a deceision within a week

    Well I cant say that they are good fitting or not , but any aftermarket parts we get on newer vehicles at our body shop suck.
    BUT I will say if you do find they fit decent , make darn sure you get every bit of their sub standard sealer off, and rebuild the bare steel with a good metal etching sealer. The sealer they put on those parts is poor quality, and if you just sand the sealer and prime or seal over it , trust me it will let go of the metal , and your nice paint job will have to be redone !!!!

    i called them today , to try and get some info on the fenders ,and it was like pulling teeth,the name of the place is the truckshop in orange ca , i saw them at the turlock swap meet in january, so i was going to get some next week at the next swap meet , and man what a run around i was getting on the phone , the girl that answered was about as helpfull as a box of rocks, glad i didnt sell my old fenders then find out afterwords what i was going to run into ,looks like i'll work the old ones

    I bought a couple of doors from them about 15 years ago for my '78 Chevy pickup.

    They were pretty good but SprayTech is right about the paint.

    You might want to call So-Cal Speedshop in Phoenix, AZ. They specialize in trucks. I have no idea if they sell the fenders, but I would bet they know them at the very least.
