Flat Black Hardener
I am new to painting and know very little about it. I am painting my truck Blitz Black and read on this forum that I should use one part thinner and one part hardener to eight parts John Deere Blitz Black. My problem is that the dealer told me they do not sell the hardener any longer. Can I use a different brand or are hardeners brand specific. I live in New Mexico and will be spraying in low humidity and 70 degree weather. Thanks

Locate your closest John Deere dealer and see if they have some. My local JD dealer doesn't stock it, but will order it for me. Also check out Case-IH dealer, they use the same paint and may carry the hardener.

Thanks Bobg. I get the old "You'll have to order a whole case if you want it". Got that for the paint but it turns out a case of Blitz Black is two gallons. I will use the paint on something, trailers, motorcycles, you can never have enough flat black!! I will look for a IH case dealer around here. If not is the hardener a certain type or are they all the same? Thanks again.

Tommy,
I'll have to check I know that someone was using a hardener from Napa.

Question: How does the "Blitz Black" hold up over time? I've tried several approaches to the flat black finish, but the less expensive ones haven't lasted under this Arizona sun. Jay
We managed to get a couple of other small things taken care of. One was blacking out the front of the core support. When the sun hit the front of the car just right that green paint on the core...
