wonder how the semi-downdrafts spray, you can get them for like 7k,, and then there's the side down drafts for around 10k anyone use one of these,, that's what i've been looking into.CHOP IT UP!!!!!!!

side drafts are nice because you dont have to dig out your floor plus they pull the paint and overspray away from the car.If your doing a two tone or somthing simaller down drafts can pull paint through the jamb or plastic cover and leave it on the other color.Plus i think there a whole lot cheaper.

Hmmm i never thought of it pulling the overspray through the jambs, interesting... side down draft looks like a good inbetween setup, between price and functionality.CHOP IT UP!!!!!!!

It is strong enough to pull through the door jams out the side draft booth? That's awsome.www.streamlineautocare.com

We did a mote carlo, in our down draft, 2/3 white and 1/3 green with stripe seperating them and the white pulled through a jam and landed on the green.A side draft might haved pulled the paint away.not a big ordeal we could fix it pretty easy but it happens. So i would think a side draft might be better in some cases.

Well now i'm using a cross flow, but i'm looking into a side down draft or a semi-down draft which is not much different than a cross flow, but the inlet to the booth is on the top front of the booth and the exhaust is just in the back so it just pulls air from the top front.. so I'm not sure what to get,, i like the semi-down draft cause it will pull air from the top which is good for me cause heat rises and it'll pull in more warm air,, but the side downdraft would do the same I guess. but i'm not sure if i can use a side down-draft due to space issues...CHOP IT UP!!!!!!!

Maybe i should just modify mine into a semi-down draft.. I want it to be about 8ft longer so i can get a car in there plus bumpers and such.. so that is probably what i will end up doing.. thing I don't like about my cross flow is that when i'm edging parts it seems that i cover my lights with overspray.. and i think a semi-down draft would help solve that prob, plus the newer booths have lights mounted in better places... So I don't know I'm confusing myself..CHOP IT UP!!!!!!!

Mopar, do you take out loans or something to pay for this kind of thing or do you have like at least 30 grand and just pay for the thing?www.streamlineautocare.com

Our down draft has some really good lighting plus we spray booth coating over the walls so any overspray will wash off.Every 3 months we wash the walls down with water and a scrub brush to take the coating off (the walls stay bright white that way) and re apply it.The down draft also takes up alot of room (1 1/2 bays)
Anything with good lighting and airflow is good.If it was me and i already had a booth i would try to make it better till i was making mega bucks (fixing cars and magabucks ,lol) then step up to something new.

But to answer your question.. when the time comes to buy a booth I plan on saving for months until I can pay for it... I really don't like getting loans anymore... as i pretty much have all I need to run my shop.. everything now is just improvements so I try to save till I can afford.CHOP IT UP!!!!!!!

Oh ok I see. Yeah loans suck. I always said I will never have loans... Now I owe TONS of money and will be a few grand more after I am all done with college. I wasn't going to go to college because I didn't think I would ever be able to pay it off and didn't want to pay loans and interest. My parents don't and wont help pay for it either like most spoiled kids parents do. But my parents got pissed and basically make me go.www.streamlineautocare.com
