clear coat over rust?
i was just reading a post where someone was suggesting clear coating over rust to preserve the patina.
Can this be done? how long will it last?.

JMHO...... I'm not a fan of preserving petina on a car/truck/fill in the blank.
I doubt it would last long. Look how long a full blown paint job lasts if ALL the rust is not removed?? Clear coat with no pigment and no primer under it would only degrade faster."PLAN" your life like you will live to 120.

I don't think you need to preserve it. It's just going to continue to gain more and more "patina", with or without clear.
