primer
Getting ready to "re-prime" the 32, BUT, this time i want to use paint, not dp-90.
I still want the "flat" look, but I want the paint to last this time, not fade.
Any suggestions - what kind of paint, mix, flatner ????

This car was done using single stage, catalyzed black urethane, with PPG's DX685 flattener. On the can will be some options for mixing. Use the "total flat" mix.
(I did another car using the semigloss mix, but it does not give a uniform finish. Some spots were kind of shiny).
I did this car about 7-8 years ago, and it still looks fresh.....and that's with our Arizona sun working on the paint!

Thanks, un-sane. It's not the cheapest, easiest way, but I don't think you can do any better for long life.
Both of the cars I mentioned were originally done with black epoxy primer, which only lasted about 3-4 years before turning gray and chalky.
You have to remember that primer was never meant to be used as a topcoat, to stand up to the sunlight, or hold it's color.
