Hey guys Im about ready to paint my 56 customline satin black. My buddy used this stuff called zero rust and it turned out great. Ive seen some other suggestions on here like the dupont and the john deere. What do you guys suggest? One other question. With this type of paint what is involved with prepping? Would I need to primer still or just sand? 400-600? wet or dry sand? Thanks guys!

Never heard of it, but read the can, and if it doesn't tell you what you need to know, then call the manufacturer. If they can't tell you, then use a primer-sealer first.

Since I don't know how sensitive it is, I'd use 360. If you primer it, you can use something a little more course.

I like to use the roughest grit I can, in order to get maximum adhesion, and it makes the sanding faster and easier.

Some guys recommend finer grits, but after 40 years of doing this $#i+, I don't like for the sanding to take any longer than necessary. Also heavier grits will flatten the surface better.

Any pics of your customline? I also have a 56 customline. What are you doing to it?

The 56 has a 67 302 with about 500 miles on it and a c4 tranny with about 100 miles. Motor is pretty much stock with some bolt on external stuff for now. Realistic plans are to paint it satin black with a metal flake green top. Shave it down, lower it a few inches, suicide the rear doors. Interior will have spider webs incorporated into it. Unrealistic plans: Chop top, channel, and bags. Ill try to get some pictures up soon!

nice.im looking for something to paint my elky with..right now its flat black but im wanting the flat or satin look without having water staines after washing it. will this stuff work.

i use gm door frame or blackout paint cheap water dont get t5hrew and rust your panels
