I know this sounds paradoxical, but is there such a thing as low gloss clear coat? I am customizing the fuel rail covers on my LS1. They are black plastic with indented Corvette lettering and a black low gloss finish. I plan to fill in the lettering then smooth everything and paint them black again. On top of that I will have vinyl lettering that says Studebaker. I am thinking it would be a good idea to clear coat over the lettering to seal it in place, but I have grown to like the original low gloss finish on the Fuel Rail Covers.

Advice?
