    how long to buff urethane/Imron

heard you are supposed to color sand/buff SW wetcoat after 24 hours.
would this be about right for Imron?
maybe why I couldn't after a month of hardness development
    in previous attempts?

DO NOT try to buff Imron!!!

"Acrylic urethanes" can be buffed since they are harder, BUT Imron is NOT an acrylic. I believe it's a "modified polyurethane".

I painted a dark green '71 Corvette with it once, and tried to buff, like I usually do. It is like trying to buff an old tire....TOO RUBBERY! I worked my butt off on that car, then finally gave up and recleared it.

yes it can be buffed it is a modified acrylic but i think it is more like ppg druathane spelled wrong . polyesterpolyurethanes and i have buff it .imron was the deal way back when i start to paint but all the paints have gone to urethanes and all the buffing compounds have been getting better to work with rubbery type of paint do a panle at a time i would work up with sand paper to 1500 or 2000 and do not get to of corse of rubbing compond try 3m finesse with a wool wheel hi plie at a low speed and see if that works for you if not go to a fine compond like3m machine rubbing compond and then go back to finesse i would do it soon .

a lot has to do with junk on the paper getting rub in to the paint if you have dirt in the paint or dust or the paper loading up and cutting the paint i would roll the edges up so the paper would not track and use some dish soap in the water this work for me i would let the paper set for a short time in the water not that long i was paid by the job
