Thread: DBC paint problem

I sprayed some DBC (Deltron base coat) and Concept clear, two weeks ago to egde in some panels for assembly. I started the painting process this weekend of the complete body. After the the second coat of color, the paint started to wrinkle up, just where the clear has overlaped the K36. I've painted many vehicles, however I've used Cromobase paint system, the only PPG paint I've sprayed in the past years was DBU. Which this had never happened. Has this happened to anyone? Or any ideas to why the base wrinkled only where the clear overlaped?...

Any suggestions or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

DBC does have a Lift cycle, if you dont use the hardner for the DBC base. (its only drawback)
The DT reducers are quit abit more agressive( then the DRR reducers for DBU), and penetrates the clear. There for the wrinkling.
Plus the edge of the clear area you colored over is thin ,allowing the base to really attack that edge, especially sprayed real wet.

What you might try is using the Hardner for the DBC system( this makes it kick or dry faster ) , as it makes it more forgiving and spot repair friendly, and more like DBU.
I will continue to use the DBU line as its alot more user friendly.
Plus it makes me a ton of money in the refinish business!!!
Been using DBU system since it came out in the mid to late 80's

The only time I use DBC is when I have a Non-American made car, as the mica is much finer from the factory and I get a better color match on them, as DBC has a finer mica in their mix bank.
