I have a campbell- hausfeld (LOWES) 2 stage compressor 80 gallon 7.hp.@14.5 cfm@90psi.Im running 3/8 hose@ 50ft.Do i need 1/4 hvlp fittings.?Mike

I bought regular fittings, and put a regulator at the inlet of my paint gun. Then I can run the compressor at a fairly high pressure, then make the final cut at the gun.

I run a separate 1/2" hose with the big fittings, my pal Jim runs regular fitting on a 3/8" hose.... can't tell the difference other then I spent a lot more money!!!!!!!!

I sure hope you aren't running directly from the compressor. You need at least 50 feet of 1/2 copper such as this:

Don't use PVC either - I did for a short while but when I disassembled it the suff shattered

There's different fittings for HVLP!!?? Oh geeze! How come I'm always the last one to know about these things?

Seriously, I run two air regulators, one on the wall coming into the booth and one at the gun.
I also (bad bad girl) run PVC pipe from the compressor up to the shop. Our compressor is located about 200 or so feet away from our shop. We have had a few occassions with PVC fittings that shattered. But in 10 years it has happened about 6 times. In the shop itself, I run hoses.
I have 2 stage compressor with an 80 gal tank and run about 80 lbs through the lines to the shop.
And I use the same gun fittings that I have been using for over 20 years.

The fittings referred to just have a larger inside diameter in order to carry a higher volume of air....

I have used both style fittings and have never seen any difference myself , I Quit using them as when I have to go edge stuff on the frame machine for the body men I always have to change fittings so I got tired of switching all the time .
And FYI , condensation starts forming in a hose after 25 feet so if you have 30+ feet of air hose and getting water you might try shortening your hose or getting a water filter trap at the tool .
