interior paint?
what is the best way to do the dash and other small interior peices without a spray booth? has any one used rattle cans? if this is done correctly (prep wise) is the outcome worth the time invested in the prep. This is probably a silly question, the car was painted on the outside when i got it and i dont even know what the paint is so im going to do a back yard in the garage interior fix up thank god that not much metal really shows inside the plymouth i just didnt want the dash to look idiotic

You can do it with rattlecans, but that will never match a 'spray gun" finish. Use a lot of masking tape and paper (old newspapers will work, use a double thickness) to mask EVERYTHING and I do mean EVERYTHING that you don't want to get overspray on. Do it in a garage, and don't set in the car with the windows up while you do it. Mask the headliner, the glass, throw an old sheet over the seats and floor, mask your door and kick panels. Since the paint from rattlecans is extremely thin, do your surface prep with a scotch-brite pad to avoid any sanding scratches. Go to a bodyshop and beg a small amount of "final cleaner" for washing the silicone contamination and wax off all the surfaces to be sprayed (preferably BEFORE you use the scotch-brite pad.)Old guy hot rodder

49 some cans have a wide spray nozzle on them usually it's the one's that have like a flap on nozzle you push.. They dont fit all the cans but you might get lucky. This type can give you about a 4 inch pray pattern. This would work great for a dash size panel.
the touch up will work fine . Just practice using it at different setting on something you dont want and watch how your coverege is .Last edited by bluestang67; 01-30-2007 at 11:37 PM.
