You might try turning some masking tape over, and use the sticky side to pick up the goo. 3Ms green tape is extra sticky!

Be real careful with some of the advertised sticky crap remover stuff. I found out on my camper that it even removes paint.

WD-40, mineral spirits and wax and grease remover have worked probably about the best for me tho WD-40 will leave a residue. Some of the 'creme' hand cleaners without the grit work too. What ever you use, be real careful around fresh paint.

WD40 can be a horror story if you have to repaint. It contaminates the existing paint layers with silicone, and can cause "fisheyes", or places where the paint will draw back while it's wet, leaving pits in the new paint. I have had such disasters from this, that I won't even allow any on the property.

3M has a "General Adhesive Remover" that works real well. I use this stuff on Leather seats that have been duct taped together all the time. It was shown to me by one of the car detail people in a major GM dealership here and they use it on and next to paint all the time. It should be available in spray cans or by the quart at your local parts store.

    Peanut Butter!

    I kid you not!!!!

The peanut oil reacts with the adhesive and wipes clean.

To rejuvenate the surface you applied the peanut butter on, use jelly. Nooooo,,,, just kidding.. but the peanut butter does work!

I use alot of this stuff called PREP SOL.It is used to wipe stuff down before you paint and will also work on sticky tape type stuff. Will not effect any painted surfaces. You can get it at any paint supply store.

...and you can lick your fingers clean afterward, instead of washing them. :-)

I use ''Rapid Remover®''. Even takes reflective vinyl adhesive off (which is a tougher adhesive to remove than standard vinyl or tape). Works fast and is mild enough to use on plexiglass without damaging it.

Oh how we learn as we grow!!! First major bodyjob I did on a car was about 1972----bought a 66 Mustang and spent the whole summer priming, sanding, slinging bondo. I had no garage, so this all happened in the back yard---masking tape was on all the chrome from May untill late August. I had the car sprayed white at a local garage, then went to pull off the masking tape. Not even dynamite would remove that tape!!! I tried everything that was suggested to me, then ended up using a razor blade---very, very carefully, to SCRAPE all the tape off. The car turned out gorgeous, but if you looked at it from just the right angle, 10,000 razor marks would all show up on that friggin chrome,

I don't think WD-40 is the one that is so dangerous under new paint it is "Silicone" sprays
