need some advice on pulling decals
my jimmy has those stupid vinyl pinstripes on it and theyre starting to peel off so im just going to take them off. i started the peeling off with the thumbnail technique haha but its taking forever. now besides the rubber wheel approach what else would do a good job removing it? would that 3M adhesive remover and a plastic scraper work OK?Never Criticise A Man Until You've Walked A Mile In His Shoes. The hair dryer / heat gun is the best & safest way. Those rubber wheels are a mess. I bought one to use on road construction signs. It took longer to clean up the mess the wheel made than it did to just peel the vinyl off with a heat gun & wipe the glue off with "Rapid Remover" adhesive remover. Wheel is gathering dust on the shelf."PLAN" your life like you will live to 120.

you could try ppg 330 spay it on or keep damp with a rag with 330 on it then use a wooden paint stick sand a edge on it like a putty knife. the ppg 440 is very hot but should not hurt the stock paint the 3m is very hot and may remove the paint the rubber wheel works good but you must run it slow on low air = low rpms just enough so it works any more air = faster rpms you will just burn them up fast. heat gun works to you have to watch it that you get it to hot it will just get gummy

A plastic squeege with a sharp edge and a heat gun will get them off."PLAN" your life like you will live to 120.

none of the ways posted on here will work good if the decals were put on fresh paint have seen this done many times when i work at body shops and have seen guys clear over then to. i hated the conversion vans they were covered with them that and wood grain was a pain

I hope the guy who invented the "eraser wheel" for removing stripes is sitting on a beach somewhere with a drink in his hand with an unbrella in it and a fine bikini wearing lady next to him. These wheels are the best thing since sliced bread! Yep, they are kinda messy, but they WORK. Now, first off, you really do need the special tool to use them. It is a "die grinder" with a gear reduction. It has a LOT of torque at a low RPM. If you put it in a drill or something, it works "ok" but not nearly as good as in the correct tool.
On just a stripe, a narrow stripe, heat it up and scrape it off with the plastic squeegee works well too.
Be VERY careful with the adhesive remover sprays, they can be pretty strong and soften paint, to a test in an inconspicuous place (as it says on the can ).
