    arm rests and vinyl dye

On my old '71 Pick-em-up, I have a mint pair or armrests....However they are green and would clash terribly with the red, white, and polished aluminum interior!!!!! I've checked most of the vinyl dyes that come in the rattle cans, and nothing is even close to matching the red in (and on) the truck. The white is plain old Ford Performance White, so I can get closer to a match, but not perfect their either.... Any ideas? How can I custom mix a paint that will stay on the armrests? Or should I just throw the armrests back on the shelf and build something out of aluminum and or wood? (The box is going to have an oak board floor, btw) I must have skipped school the day they covered this!!!!!

    arm rest

i had the same problem with my 71 monte. everything was green. i tried a few different rattle cans. what i finally found was duplicolor. make sure the arm rest is clean and dry and just spray on. the color looks great and you can not scratch it off after it has cured.

Use Marhyde vinly dye, that can be sprayed on will last forever. Did my 39 p/u and drove it every day for 7 years with no visable wear. Try it you'll like it.
