    Dull primer over Epoxy primer

Just did my truck with Epoxy primer. I wanted the primer look with some flames. It has too much shine to it. I like that look with black, but with the grey it just looks like a bad grey paint job. Can I just sand it and redo it with another primer? What primer should I use over it to loose the shine? thanks

    6banger,
I dont know what product you are using , but make sure you use the same brand of primer surfacer that is compatiable with your Epoxy!

You can try taking a Grey scotch bright pad & lightly dry scuff your epoxy & it will take some of that sheen off .

Now days most brands have tintable sealers that allow you to have about any color of your choice, but they also have a slight sheen to them also , but you lightly scuff it & it will dull down some.
    Hope this helps out .

I like epoxy primers but are you sure you bought flat primer or semi-gloss? You can just use the same brand primer semigloss or not and add a flattener to the base to give it less sheen.

If you want to give it that true old school look then use a high gloss laquer and "fog" it on and youll have the look of a 50 year old faded paint job.

It's Sherwin Williams epoxy. It does't say any where if it is flat or not. Looks like the scothbrite will work. Also tried a hidden spot with 1500 wet and that looks good too.

Just let it sit for a month it will flatten out by itself....Don
