How's this quote look for cheapie job?
hey guys, my uncle will be back in a few months from asia, I am using his truck right now to move the fenders and other hotrod stuff around. it's a 79 ford F150 custom long bed. body is in pretty great condition. but paint is tired. he always talks about having it painted, I was going to do this for him. here's what I got quoted the other day.
place is called Color Glow. they use Sherman Williams urethane paints (don't know what that means)
for 3 coats of paint
4 hours of prep work feathering chips and other stuff with the sander
2 year warrantee
upgrade to metallic paint (they had a standard dark blue metallic there that almost exactly matches the original color of the truck, I figure why spend more on color matching).
I think that is it, left the little card at home, price was 479.99. (that includes tax on some of the materials and some other fees I want to say something environmental?)
for another hundred bucks I can get a clear coat, but I didnt' know how necessary that is. I don't need a fancy paint job on it, this is the work truck we haul all sorts of things in, if its too nice he'll be worried about messing it up. same time I don't want to get a crappy job and have it go to crap too early.
Thanks for your opinions guys.
