Wink need help guys!!! is the fender welting paintable???

is the black fender welting (black) available thur all the hotrod shops paintable?? I am just finishing my 39 coupe, will be rolling into the paint booth next week. i really don't want black, so I thought I would paint in the same exact color as the car. was thinking of using dbc bc/cc with flex agent on the welting, will this work, or am I just wasting my time???? I am sure someone has tried painting the stuff before?

Yes. I also use adhesion promoter. If you don't pound it on too thick it remains flexible.

Upholstery shops can make this up in almost any color you want. They just pick a vinyl of the same color, and stitch it around a plastic beading like you have on seat covers.

I believe that Juliano's sells it in a variety of colors as possibly other rod shops as well. You might have a problem getting something to closely match a metallic paint and you might find that metallic paint won't adhere to the welting very well or for any long period.
