Paint concept drawing
One of my customers said I could share this drawing of his project. He is Don Baker, and he is building this awesome ProStreeter, powered by a very big, blown & nasty rat motor. This is not his first blown prostreet car, and he does most of the work himself, including paint. The car has already been assembled, then torn apart for paint.
We did three variations of the concept he wanted.....a cross between flames and peeling paint. The only difference is that he picked the name from one of the other two drawings I did, and it will be called "War Wagon", with the lettering being in rusty metal and rivets.
There is a lot of chrome underneath, and he has already shot the orange and purple candy on the chassis and firewall. I think you'll agree he is doing a great job! When the car is done I'll post pictures of it. It's possible he may drop in here to say "Hi!" :-) JayLast edited by HOTRODPAINT; 12-17-2008 at 09:04 PM.

i like war wagon better..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

I also like warwagon better. What a cool idea of the peeling paint. Are the underlying flames going to be 3-d?BARB

I also thought "War Wagon" was the best of three names I came up with, and gave it a more aggressive personality.
As far as your question about 3D flames, I'm not quite sure what you mean, but the idea on these graphics was to just have the paint peel in a pattern that gave them some "flow"...and let the "hot colors" suggest they might be flames. There will be some 3D shadows under the curled paint chips.
We also drew up three variations on the graphics, and orange-purple two tone. I thought Don chose the best of those concepts also. I guess that is the advantage of seeing it on paper, before injecting a lot of money or time in something that could have been better.
I can't wait to see the car finished. It is certainly going to be one of the more outrageous ProStreeters I've ever seen! By the way, it does have a full Pro Modified chassisLast edited by HOTRODPAINT; 12-18-2008 at 07:46 AM.

That is going to make one nice car. I also enjoyed the pics of the old stockcars. I went to my first race when I was 4 or 5 and have enjoyed them ever since. My Dad has photo albums of every racing season going back to the 1940's.

"pastor", his last project was a blown smallblock '70's Camaro...for the street.
It looks like he is "movin' uptown" this time!Last edited by HOTRODPAINT; 01-02-2009 at 07:00 AM.

Cool, maybe some day one of my cars will look that good and actually go down the street on its own instead of a trailer. Yes I actually own a trailer queen because it isn't even close to being street legal

Cool car. Is he on Stevesnovasite.com because I'm almost 100% positive I've seen this build on that site. I have a 63 Nova (Chevy II) Wagon myself. Looks like its going to look awesome!www.streamlineautocare.com

I had fun doing the drawings. I find that even if I am just contributing some paint design ideas, I feel like part of the project.
I also had a '63 wagon, a '65 "post", and a '63 hardtop that I built with an 11:1 331, stahl fenderwell headers, 4-speed, and a '57 rear axle with 4:11 posi and "slapper bars". It was a real tire smoker, and my first wife hated it. Everywhere we went .....we went sideways! :-)~
