    Urethane clear over acrylic enamel

I was told by a gentleman that I could spray any urethane clear over acrylic enamel paint that uses hardner. Is there any truth to this? What is the flash time I have to work with if true?I know that enamel is touchy and can lift if it dries too long.Any ideas?

yep did it this way a long time ago i used ppg DAU 75 clear with DXR 80 .other will come on here and tell you there is better ways now .they may be some what right .but you ask if it can be done and i and many did it this way before a fast drying base the acrylic enamel needs to have harder or it can lift. the enamel needs to sit for over 24 hours i cut them flat with 1000 wet then cleared over them .i still like the way they turned out you buy way more paint in the can with enamel then a base color .but its more work to sand them out to clear them

It works pretty good..Use a hardener and block it out on the second day when it's still easy to sand, then hit it with clear.
I remember when hot rods were all home made.
